About Us
The company was originally born in 1993 and since our inception we have become one of the market leaders in the design of residential developments and have led a number of large-scale and innovative schemes. We have in this time built up a highly motivated and talented design team that has built up a great deal of intellectual capital which means they can empathise with each client, understand their individual needs and ultimately add value to all the developments we are involved with.
Our Culture
We are always challenging our core aspiration and philosophy at Knapton & Knapton to create sustainable design, having a goal to deliver innovation and affordability with the intent on creating homes and place making within the urban realm where people are happy to live and actually look forward to going home.
Our fundamental driver is the creation of modern, vibrant urban communities by combining forward thinking design with a people friendly environments. The defining word for the creation of peoples homes is choice, choice of elevation, choice of layout, choice in the mix of house types and choice in the way people want to live their lives.
We are passionate about creating homes for todays lifestyles combining innovative design with creative living spaces, where the designs put the people first. Creating developments that respond to community values, where everyone can recognize their own home from the way it looks, with place making that makes children and play more important than cars.

community creation through
urban regeneration
Working closely with the client and design team we have now submitted the planning application for 253 units on the first Wakefield Council framework development site. All units will be Life Time Homes compliant and built to Code for Sustainable Homes level 3, with an aspiration of achieving a CABE Building For Life gold award. We look forward to a start on site late 2010.
contemporary style wins through in a
conservation area
A private commission meant a huge challenge of obtaining planning approval for a contemporary detached residence in an established conservation area of Sheffield. With the use of a concise presentation of story board imagery we were able to build a full picture and narrative for the planning authority and committee members. This resulted in us gaining their full support and approval within a short application period. Our client is now on site looking forward to a build completion in July 2010.
new life at Pleasley Hill
We are pleased to be selected as part of our clients design team as finalists for Mansfield Councils regeneration of Pleasley Hill. A mixed use site of circa 700 units, 250 golden living units, village centre, petrol station and commercial uses. We are working towards a full planning application submission in September 2010 with a build start early 2011. The development will breath new life into the area and is a proposal aligned to the needs of the local community with strong ecological credentials.
contemporary development
wins the day
A fantastic opportunity arose to work with our client to develop a layout and bespoke house types that would respond to local housing needs but also deliver a vibrant and exciting contemporary development, that will create energy and stimulate the existing community. The proposal have been received positively by the councils planning department and design review panel. A planning approval is targeted for summer 2010 with a build start shortly afterwards.
